Jamie M. Dronen

Principal Director International Programs

 

Jamie M. Dronen is the principal director of International Programs at The Aerospace Corporation, the leading architect for the nation’s national security space programs. With more than $1 billion (USD) in revenue and nearly 5,000 employees nationwide, Aerospace operates a federally funded research and development center for the United States Space Force and other government and civil customers, as well as an international subsidiary in the United Kingdom. In his role as the lead executive of International Programs, Dronen is responsible for leading all of Aerospace’s international activities spanning military, civil, academia, the intelligence community, and commercial programs.

Previously, Dronen was the director of Global Partnerships in Aerospace’s Space Systems Architect Division, where his primary responsibility was to work directly with the U.S. Government to define, develop, and initiate opportunities for space collaboration with allies, industry, other government agencies, and academia. A critical component of the division, Dronen’s team utilized its global marketplace expertise to propose and assess solutions essential for defining the nation’s future space enterprise architecture as it manifests across all mission areas such as pointing, navigation, and timing; missile warning; satellite communications; weather; space control; and space domain awareness.

Before that, Dronen was the director of Aerospace’s Future and International Programs for the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Division, responsible for providing an enterprise-wide approach to jointly acquiring MILSATCOM systems with key international partners and allies and identifying future opportunities for the joint development of capabilities, architectures, policies, and technologies. This included support for the Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) and Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) programs, as well as for commercial satellite communications pathfinders and pilots.
Prior to joining Aerospace, Dronen worked in the Washington D.C. area, providing MILSATCOM acquisition and international program technical, policy, and strategy oversight and expertise to the United States Air Force.


Education 

Dronen earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in space studies from the University of North Dakota. In addition, he is a graduate of the Visiting Scholars program at Moscow State University (Lomonosov) in Russia.

Dronen is the recipient of numerous awards from NASA, the Department of Defense, and Aerospace for both individual and group achievements in the areas of computing, education, security, operations, and international affairs
